He was previously a journalist covering the financial markets and energy industry for The Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg News from bureaus in Washington, D.C., New York, and Calgary, and was also the editor of financial newsletters. He is an undergraduate of St. Olaf College and a student of its Great Books program, and holds a master’s degree in Journalism and Communications from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
